We last left the Confident Three in the past. We know they're on their way to jail and we learned that they intended to find themselves in this exact predicament, but we had to learn why.

The former mayor of Mooringsong was arrested before the Confident Three had ever made it to the city, overthrown by a gang of mercenaries led by his former head guard.

Key, the mayor's daughter, asked if the party could go rescue her father from the prison. She believed that once he was freed, the town of Mooringsong would stand up for itself and overthrow their illegitimate rulers.

The only thing she didn't know was how to do it. As they began to plan, a sharp knock at the door sent the party scattering, except Almathara, who disguised herself as the mayor, and waited to surprise whoever was coming in.

The plan got further complicated when Aerithaeon, trying to help, sent the bodies of two guards the party had killed the night before careening through the front door.
